Year Honored:

Logan is a 14 year old, happy-go-lucky student and athlete. He loves animals, playing baseball, video qames, bowling, and spending time laughing and joking with family and friends. ln Novernber of 2015, Logan was diagnosed with a rare childhood brain turnar called Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytorna as well as several cysts on his brain stem.

ln the months leading up to this devastating diagnosis, Logan began experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headaches and balance issues. After he was rushed to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy in September of 2015, we thought we had found the answer to what was causing his symptorns. However his symptoms persisted even after his appendix was removed. His brain tumor was diagnosed a few weeks later.

The week of Thanksgiving 2015, Logan underwent surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. While his neurosurgeon was able to reinove part of the tumor, a portion of the tumor had grown into Logan's brain stern, rendering it inoperable and leaving radiation as the first option to treat the tumor. After recovering from his brain surgery, on January 5, 2016, Logan underwent the first of 28 radiation sessions to stop the growth of the rernaining tumor in his brain stem. He completed his treatrnents, on February 12, 2016.

Logan also completed four months of physical therapy to reestablish his strength and coordination that he had lost due to the surgery. He went back to school three days a week and with the great efforts of his teachers at Taylor Middle School along with weekly visits frorn teacher Andrea Perry he was able to cornplete the 7th grade.

ln Novernber of 2016 an MRI revealed that the tumor in Logan's brain stem had shown a growth. Logan is currently in a chemotherapy treatment which started in January of 2017. Despite his challenges Logan has gone to school full time this year. His teachers are amazinq people and there is not enough that can be said about their efforts along with the adrninistration at Taylor Middle School.

From rny farnily I would like to say thank you to everyone for their kindness and thoughtfulness in nominating and choosing my son.
